3rd World Energy is all about cheap easy to build energy machines and saving the precious resources we already have. By re-purposing and reusing existing parts you can save big bucks when creating a new energy producing device.
Now days most dumps do not let you browse through the trash to find your reusable treasures. You have to be a little more creative and get the items you need before they hit the dump.
Start with your local online classifieds. They will usually have an “items wanted” section and you probably won’t have to travel far to pickup you item. More popular sites like Craig’s list and Freecycle are also excellent sources for your projects and have a large viewing audience. You may be surprised at the things people will throw out or give away. Do not be afraid to ask!If you have to buy, use auctions and surplus resources to get it cheap.
So just what kinds of items should you always be on the lookout for? Well, here are a few suggestions to get started…
Lawn mowers – (typically vertical shaft gas engine)
Garden tractors – (typically horizontal shat gas engines)
Lawn edgers – (gas powered models)
Anything else you can think of with a small gas or diesel engine
Powered Treadmill – (typically have a DC motor with DC controller)
Power Wheels – (DC motor)
Old computer printers – (stepper motor in dot matrix, daisy wheel, and some laser)
Trolling motor – (DC motor)
Auto alternator – (AC output that has a built in or separate regulator)
Auto generator – (OLDER vehicles DC output that uses a separate regulator)
Squirrel cage motors – (Induction AC in washing machines, dryers, water pumps)
Ceiling fans – (Induction AC, Fans)
Anything else you can think of with an electric motor particularly DC motors or permanent magnet alternators
Solar Panels – (broken, used)
Solar cells – (chipped, broken)

It is quite amazing the number of things that can be used to generate energy. It is VERY possible to become energy independent or at least reduce the amount of money you have to pay someone else for energy.
